Programme content
In the first year of your degree, you will explore the history of Europe, the development of European cultures, the rise of nationalism and the creation and workings of the European Union. Halfway during the first year, you will choose a foreign language (other than English or Dutch) in which you should become proficient by the end of your studies. European Studies offers a large variety of languages (15 in total) to choose from: Arabic, Czech, Danish, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Modern Greek, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Serbian/Croatian, Spanish, and Swedish.
The second and third-year modules build on your first year. The second year is mostly devoted to modules for your major or specialisation. You can choose from the following majors:
- European Literature and Culture
- European History
- East European Studies
- European Law
- European Economics

Three A-Levels [No Grades specified] plus 3 GCSEs [Grades A-C]
Scottish Students are required to have a SQC with 2 Advanced Highers and at least 4 Highers. Subjects to include Maths
